Okay...I looked up Tom Bombadill and I'm still clueless...at least I wasn't the only one. As it turns out he was completely irrelevant to the whole story and could have been omitted They say he is a nature spirit and the elves called him "oldest, and fatherless" his wife is Goldberry... and that is all I know. ;D

*Professor Durga* Quickbeam, also called Bregalad, is a young ent that Treebeard sends Merry and Pippin to hang out with while the entmoot is going on. Quickbeam is "hasty" because he said yes to an elder ent before he finished his question. And in the book, Treebeard actually talks all the ents into going to Isengaurd and Bregalad carries Merry and Pippin. The trees sing a song about bringing doom to Isengaurd. Quickbeam really isn't that important to the movie... I had to read the chapter again.
