I think a Scouring of the Shire scene was filmed, but they took it out. I'm guessing it will be in the extended version.

yes, it was filmed, i know that.
this vicious guy in my biology class got the movie via e-mail, and he said it was in there.
and in my other post, i put "amgered" and i meant to say "angered..."
so, i just thought i should announce this.

Actually, PJ never liked the scouring of the Shire scene, so he never filmed that. Which is why Saruman ends up falling out of Orthanc.... so he can avoid that whole Wormtoungue killing Saruman and hobbits killing Wormtougue thing.

actually, you are very very wrong, i'm sorry to disagree.
i have a friend who got the whole movie (extended and all) and it has the scouring of the shire in it, but due to legnth, they had to cut it out.
so supposedly the saruman scene and the scouring of the shire are going to be in the extended version...
but that guy could be an evil person and just have lied to me...

They actually said in the News Week that came out right before RotK that PJ never filmed it... Hmmm... starting another Tolkien-based book today. He wrote Sir Gawain and the Green Knight before he wrote the LotR trilogy. It will probably be a lot like reading Beowulf, an ancient Norse epic poem. That was actually quite fun to read, once you understood it! ^_^; EDIT: lol, I've actually started reading it now... Tolkien actually didn't write them. He just translated them. The first twenty pages are his notes on the translations, and then you actually get into the story. All by an unknown author in the 14th century. Fascinating!

well, newsweek is stupid.
i saw some thing on return of the king...and they were talking about all this extra-ness that would be in the extended version...
ok, someone's lying.
but we must make a pact:
whoever wins can't rub it in the other person's face.

LOL. Deal! Bwaha. I think that I'm offically obsessed... I found my LotR-related magazine stash today-- about 10 magazines from FotR to RotK.

lol. I had to refrain from breaking out in history class today.
We started learning about WWI and they only touched on the Battle of Versilles-- or whichever one Tolkien fought in. SO dissapointed! Stupid focus of the US.

:: COUGH :: RotK was the most the most butchered movie of them all. You could fit the entire movie into 30 pages, at the most.
