I'm trying finish reading the 3rd book before the movie comes out. But I've read the begining 3 times and keep forgetting what happens so I have to go back and read it again.

I've read The Hobbit and I liked it a whole lot more that I thought I would (considering I've read the first 6 pages three hundred times!) even though it was only for a summer assignment. I checked out Fellowship of the Ring from the library and couldn't get past page 72 (2nd chapter). I guess that the books are kinds of hard to get into because Tolkein isn't a very personal writer. Sure he's got a great imagination, but his wrting style is hard to get into.

I've read the trilogy plus the hobbit, but I've been about 2/3 the way through The Silmarillion for a few months now. Primarily because I suck at memorizing names and it takes me ages to comprehend anything from that book!

OK--
I'm going to be the spoilsport like you were on your board Rina, and say we need to get back on topic now!
It's fun to drift off...maybe I should create a board where you can just talk about random things...
Anyway! Back to the book!
Which one was your favorite?
Mine was RotK...
