: On a dark night in September three figures stood in the shadow of a warehouse. The figures were all dressed in black and if you were to look at them the untrained eye would have not seen them. One of the figures stooped down and laced their hands together, giving one of the others a boost up to a window. The figure crawled into the warehouse and pulled the others inside. Once inside the three figures lurked around until they found a large, long box. One figure picked up the box. At once an alarm went off. The three figures hurried out the window, past the warehouse, and were about to cross the street when a black car pulled up.
"Get in," the driver said. The driver was a teenaged girl. She had light curly brown hair, green eyes, and glasses.
The three figures jumped in and she sped off.
"That was a little easy for my likening," said one of the figures as he pulled off his mask. He was also a teen, with black hair and green eyes, like the girls.
"Everything is to easy for you. You cocky wanker," another figure said amusedly. He looked exactly like the other figure.
"I'm with Emrys. That was to easy," the last figure said. He was a redhead with many freckles, and, like the others he had green eyes.
"Then why couldn't I come?" Asked the girl"Because you're the best driver we have, Morgan," said the second figure, still looking amused.
"Shut up, Drake," said Morgan, the driver.
"When do we get back to headquarters?" Asked Emrys.
"When we get there," Morgan sneered.
"Oi, you guys. What's up with you all?" Asked the redhead.
"Lots of stuff, Gavin," Morgan answered.
"What kind of stuff?" Gavin pressed further.
"We have lots of problems. You do too." Morgan sounded frustrated.
"What's bothering you, Morgan?" Gavin asked quietly.
"Has it ever occurred to you," she began, "that we are not normal, at all. Not one little bit of normal is in us."
"That never bothered you before," said Gavin with concern.
"Come off it, Morgan. How normal can a sorceress, two shapshifter, and vampire get?"
"Morgan, you know something we don't. Tell us," Emrys pocked his head in-between the seat to look at her.
"I just learned of our next assignment," she deadpanned.
"What is it?" Asked an exited Drake.
"Well, not the whole assignment. But I know we'll be here, in the Mortal Realm. Stationed in a high school. Posing as normal teenagers," Morgan didn't sound too pleased.
"We can be normal!" Tried Drake.
"No we can't!" Morgan snapped.
"Why?" Drake huffed.
"We could start with the fact that Emrys and you are immortal! When were you ever normal teens? When you lived in prehistoric caves?"
"We're not that old," protested Drake.
"That doesn't matter," Morgan growled. The speed of the car picked up as she became angrier.
"What's in the box?" Asked Gavin after a few minutes.
"I don't know. Why not have a look?" Questioned Drake.
"Go ahead," Emrys shrugged.
Drake pulled the lid of the box off and soon regretted it. For inside the box beams of white light came out. The light blinded Morgan and she swerved off the road. Soon the teens were sprawled out in a ditch with the box emitting more light.
It was some time before the first person woke up. That person was Drake. He slowly crawled over to the box. Blinking and squinting he saw what was in the box. It was a long sword. Thin and deadly looking with a sharp, yet sturdy, point. It had many runes carved into it and the hilt was set with blue gems. The only thing more enchanting to Drake about the sword was that it seemed to be talking to him. But not really talking. It was really more of a song.
He had the sudden impulse to grab the sword and never let it go.
"Quick! Put the lid back on!" Morgan had also woken up. She dived at the sword with the box lid. Drake just sat there confused. "How could you leave that open so long?" She hissed at Drake. "The enemy has surely spotted us by now!"
"I-I-I-I don't know. I didn't mean too," Drake was still bewildered.
"Morgan, we better hurry. The portal to our world has to be around here." Emrys looked around.
"No, it's closed. We best head towards those trees and camp out," Morgan glared at Drake. She set off and the others followed.
They reached to trees and were all sitting in a circle.
"Morgan, do you think you could remove our disguises? No one will see us out here. And I'm really hungry. Don't you want food?" Emrys pleaded.
"Fine," she said and waved her hand at them.
Emrys leaned back gratefully as he studied himself. His fingernails were now long and sharp, his face pale under moonlight, and his eyes only had a tiny ring of green around his big black eyes. He smiled, barring long pointy teeth.
Drake had removed his shoes and was now looking at large scaly green skin and long toes that were really more like claws. His hands were almost the same way. He also had to remove his shirt. Scales now covered his chest and his face. The most striking thing about him was that he had long graceful wings protruding from his back. They were black with tiny points on the end and looked particularly shiny in the small moonlight. His teeth were now long and pointy and his eyes held a more daring and malicious look than before. His tongue was less human and more like a snake.
Where Gavin had sat there now stood a large white hawk.
"Lets go get food then," Morgan sighed. Everyone stood up. "Someone has to stay here to watch the box," she looked pointedly at Drake.
"Fine then," he said. "I'm not that hungry." Drake settled down as the other three left. "Looks like it's just you and me, box." He said stretching out.
"Very correct, master," a voice whispered at him.
"What?" Drake looked around wildly.
"I'm in the box. I'm the sword. Nox Mundus is where I am from. My mission is Deleo. Ego consumo animus, dies, metus, intellegentia, vita, mane, pax, et polliceor. Ego refero nox, metus, et bellum. Tuus meus vinco. Praesto meus vita. Rex esse deceptus." The voice continued.
"Um, yes. Well, I'm sorry but I'm not terribly good with my Latin," Drake said warily. "Could you say that in English."
"You are my master now," said the voice.
"Okay," Drake said strangely.
"It was meant to be. Take me master and do great things. I am yours."
"Well," Drake said as he stood up. "If you insist."
"I do insist," the voice said silkily. It was then that he noticed the voice was a women's.
As he reached for the box lid a crashing sound came from behind him. He ignored it as he pulled the lid off. Then he heard a voice behind him.
"The portal is re opening!"
That's all he heard as the sword literally jumped into his hand. His body was soon consumed in a bright white light. The light suddenly changed to black. Not just black, but black flame. The black fire whipped at Drake, though he felt nothing, physically. Mentally he was having the time of his life. He knew the world would bend at his command. All sorts of unfamiliar feelings rushed through him. Greed, ambition, ruthlessness, smugness, daringness, and most of all he felt important and powerful.
The half dragon teenager would have stood there all night if a sudden force hadn't hit his head and made him black out.
"Drake!" Emrys shouted. Morgan, Gavin, and he were standing in a dome with many corridors leading off to different places. There seemed to be a dark purple glow about the room casting odd shadows across the threesome.
"Drake!" Gavin shouted.
"Which one do you think he was taken to?" Emrys asked.
"I don't know," Gavin sounded worried.
"This is all my fault!" Morgan howled. "I shouldn't have left him alone!" Tears were streaming down her face.
"It's alright, Morgan. We'll find him." Gavin put a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"I think they brought him down the black one," Morgan finally croaked.
They all turned to look at the black corridor. As they stared at it the corridor seemed to stare back. It was daring them to enter into it's cold, gloomy, darkness.
"Why do you think that?" Emrys asked.
"I can feel it," she said confidently.
"Alright, lets' go," Gavin said with finality.
The trio stepped in front of the dark corridor. A cold rush of air seemed to push them into it. Within seconds they found themselves standing in the middle of a large dark forest. Morgan quickly conjured a ball of orange light in her hand and began to search the area. Emrys sighed as he gave into the worst cliché and turned into a bat as he searched. Gavin turned himself into a white hawk once again as he searched.
"I can't find anything," Morgan said half an hour latter.
"I don't either," Emrys said dully.
"Maybe we should just sleep for a few minutes. Then we could look again for Drake," Gavin suggested.
"Fine," Morgan sighed.
The three had only been sleeping for five minutes when a shadowy figure stalked out of the bushes. Ten others soon joined him. The first nodded to the others and the trio was surrounded quickly. Then they were quickly bound and gagged as they woke up. Morgan, Emrys, and Gavin were dragged until morning when they reached a camp.
"Get in," the driver said. The driver was a teenaged girl. She had light curly brown hair, green eyes, and glasses.
